Applied Management - Human Resource Management, BAS

The Bachelor of Applied Science Applied Management - Human Resource program prepares students to enter the rapidly changing field of business management with a special focus on Human Resource competencies. Graduates will be prepared to lead organizational efforts in today’s world and create progressive best workplaces to harness the potential of their human talent using their expertise to assist with the attraction, engagement/productivity, and retention of talent. 

Bachelor of Applied Science Applied Management - Human Resource graduates will:

Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor. Any additional coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.

NOTE: The following courses are pre-requisites to courses later in the program and must be completed prior to enrollment: HRM 215 HRM 220 HRM 230 HRM 250 HRM 255 , and HRM 260 . Added 1/8/24 for clarity.


To be considered for admission to the BAS in Applied Management - Human Resource program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • An earned associate degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum cumulative GPA across all college coursework of 2.0
  • Completion of all General Education prerequisite courses listed below with a minimum 2.0 GPA in each course

General Education Prerequisites - 20 credits

  • 5 credits of college-level Math (with intermediate algebra as a prerequisite) or higher with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • 5 credits of college-level English (ENGL& 101  or equivalent) course with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • 5 credits of college-level Humanities  or Social Science  course with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • 5 credits of college-level Lab Science  course with a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Business Prerequisites/Corequisites - 12 credits

It is recommended that these requirements be taken before the student enters the program.

Note: ACCT& 201 and ECON& 201 may be used as electives in the BAS.

Program Requirements

General Education Requirements - 20 credits

Electives - 10 credits

If you are not proficient in MS Office, it is recommended you use those courses for your electives. If you can attend one of the conferences, this will assist with career development (you can attend multiple years). Classes cannot count twice, and the total credits may not be reduced.

Total credits includes the 90 credits listed above and a minimum of 90 credits completed at the associate degree level.
