HRM 490 Leadership, HR Career Planning, and Capstone

This course covers leadership and navigation crucial to business and their application for success. Students will execute career strategies to transition into a professional environment or career advancement. This is a capstone course for the BAS AHRM degree where students will apply their business and Human Resource knowledge to perform best practices for an organization.

Prerequisites: Admission to the BAS Applied Management - Human Resource Management program

Corequisites: HRM 210 HRM 215 HRM 220 HRM 230 HRM 250 HRM 255 HRM 260 HRM 290 HRM 340 HRM 345 HRM 370 HRM 390 HRM 425 HRM 435 HRM 465 HRM 485 , and HRM 495  (prerequisites or corequisites)

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Analyze leaders creating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders as part of strategic effectiveness
  • Examine major leadership theories, personal traits, and characteristics associated with effective leaders
  • Investigate ideas of what constitutes “effective leadership” and various aspects of today’s “leadership paradigm”
  • Conduct career opportunities activities, including networking, informational interviews, and resume reviews
  • Solve complex business and Human Resource (HR) problems and issues involving the integration of one or more HR functional areas
