HRM 485 Strategic HR Management, Organizational Behavior, & Organizational Strategy5 credits This course covers organizational strategies and organizational behavior best practices. Effective human capital strategies and practices that give businesses a sustainable competitive advantage are emphasized. Students will apply a conceptual analysis of behavior within organizations.
Prerequisites: Admission to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program or instructor permission required
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Examine how organizational strategies and culture contribute and are linked to Human Resource (HR) management
- Deduce organizational norms, values, and standards of the organization when making decisions that influence people and processes to achieve organizational goals
- Examine issues and best practices surrounding the Human Resource (HR) structure for delivering services and outsourcing/partnering with third parties to better deliver HR services
- Analyze how strategic planning, budgeting, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, and ethics impact Human Resource (HR) and the business
- Discuss issues relevant to the three levels of organizational behavior (i.e., individual, group, and organizational)
- Critically analyze different management and organizational strategies
