CIVL 107 Sustainability in Civil Engineering3 credits This course introduces the goals, principles, and practical applications of sustainability from science/engineering. The course emphasizes sustainability as an approach in civil engineering projects that focuses on the long lasting improvement of the human condition. Also covered is how sustainable engineering principles and practices can transform the traditional design and construction methods of complex systems by the application of life cycle and environmental assessment, risk, and uncertainty analysis and other emerging techniques.
Certificate students who wish to take this course as a technical elective will need instructor permission to do so.
Prerequisites: CADE 131 , CADE 132 , CIVL 101 , CIVL 102 , and MATH 111
Corequisites: CIVL 103 , CIVL 105 , CIVL 231 , and PHYS& 114
