MACH 255 Internship

10 credits
Internship learning offers students the opportunity to further their skills by working at an approved job site. Students obtain a paid internship, volunteer position, or job in the Machining industry with the goal of applying knowledge learned in the program to a real world scenario. Students will check in with their Instructor once per week for feedback and guidance.

Prerequisites: MACH 107 MACH 117 MACH 137 MACH 151 MACH 153 MACH 155 MACH 205 MACH 207 ENGL& 101 , any college-level Quantitative Reasoning course, and instructor permission 

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Obtain a paid internship, volunteer position, or job related to the machining industry
  • Work independently and apply learned aspects of machining to demonstrate competency in their chosen area of interest within the machining industry
  • Self-assess learning needs and design, implement, and evaluate strategies to promote intellectual growth and continued professional competence 
  • Meet minimum competency in eight categories identified as essential for employability: adherence to policy and procedure, technical knowledge, skill application, work planning, quality of work, the quantity of work, interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication 
  • Communicate information to superiors, peers, and subordinates
