MACH 153 MasterCAM: Wireframe/Solids/Toolpaths 25 credits Students will continue to use MasterCAM to translate 2D drawings into more complex 3D solid models. Students will learn more advanced use of milling and turning toolpaths, virtually verify toolpaths, and virtually “cut” parts. These part-program files can then output as functional CNC G-code programs.
Prerequisites: MACH 151
Corequisites: MACH 107 or MACH 117 or MACH 137 or MACH 207
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Create, modify, and manage more complex 2D wireframes from part drawings
- Create, modify, and manage more complex 3D solid model geometry from part drawings
- Calculate appropriate speeds and feeds
- Create, modify, and manage multiple Work Coordinates Systems (WCS)
- Manage different Construction Planes and Graphics Views
- Organize multiple machining operations and their various toolpaths
- Create more complex 2D toolpaths
- Create milling and turning toolpaths and programs
- Calculate appropriate speeds and feeds
- Calculate appropriate cutting depth vs radial engagement
- Verify 2D toolpath to check for errors and crashes
- Generate and edit G-Code programs for use on various CNC machines
