GAME 182 Game Mechanics 2

4 credits
Students will work independently to bring a unique digital game from idea to full production. They will be responsible for concept, prototype, playtests, milestones, polish, and marketing for their game with support from peers and faculty. Students will use their technical skills to learn professional time management and advanced production techniques. 

Prerequisites: GAME 111 GAME 124 , and GAME 127  

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Creatively direct their own game concepts from idea to completion
  • Use professional time management tools and techniques to deliver a product on schedule
  • Present and defend their idea and core concept
  • Manage play-tests and user studies to iterate on their core idea
  • Deliver a portfolio-worthy product that they have complete creative ownership over

This course teaches to the following program outcomes:

  • Demonstrate technical proficiency and creative skills as related to the digital gaming field
  • Compare and evaluate electronic games taxonomy and design theory
  • Create digital video games from start to finish
