ABED 62 Welding I-BEST Support II3 credits This course is exclusively for students enrolled in the second term of the Welding Introduction Certificate of Completion program. It addresses specific terminology and skills covered in the second-term technical courses.
Prerequisites: ABED 61
Corequisites: WELD 103 and WELD 104
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Discuss career plans, identify career pathways related to welding and advanced manufacturing, and demonstrate interviewing skills
- Interpret words and phrases as they are used in readings, including readings on OSHA regulations, employee/employer rights and responsibilities, and employee benefits
- Compile concise and organized notes
- Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) in response to class activities
- Develop informative and explanatory written communication in response to topics related to welding and manufacturing
- Use fractions and decimals in contexts typical of welding and manufacturing settings
- Convert standard measurement units within a given measurement system and use these conversions in solving problems that commonly arise on the shop floor
- Identify properties of and relationships between geometric objects and apply them in contexts relevant to welding and manufacturing
