ABED 61 Welding I-BEST Support I

This course is exclusively for students enrolled in the first term of the Welding Introduction Certificate of Completion program. It addresses specific terminology and skills covered in the first-term technical courses.

Prerequisites: ELL 50  or placement by assessment (NRS ESL 6 or ABE 4)

Corequisites: WELD 101  and WELD 102  

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other words and phrases used in welding and manufacturing and use them
  • Read and follow blueprints
  • Outline safety procedures and demonstrate ability to understand and follow oral and written directives related to safety
  • Apply mathematical skills to make equipment adjustments/calibrations and to complete fabrication projects
  • Prepare a cover letter and resume
