The Bachelor of Applied Science Applied Management - Entrepreneurship program prepares students to begin a career in business management with a special focus on entrepreneurship. Graduates will be prepared to function as small business owners, as independent contractors or consultants, or for supervisory positions in their technical field.
Bachelor of Applied Science Applied Management - Entrepreneurship graduates will:
- demonstrate knowledge of the structures and functions of business management and wealth creation
- apply business management principles from both an entrepreneurial and an intrapreneurial perspective
- determine the needs and structures of the local business community
- demonstrate knowledge of business startup economics, operations management, and entrepreneurship/intrapreneurship
- complete a comprehensive business plan
- demonstrate communication, critical thinking, cultural humility, information literacy, and teamwork skills
- meet Humanities , Natural Science , Quantitative Reasoning , Social Science , and Written Communication general education distribution area outcomes
Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor. Any additional coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.

Prerequisites
To be considered for admission to the BAS in Applied Management - Entrepreneurship program, students must meet the following requirements: - An earned associate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Minimum cumulative GPA across all college coursework of 2.0
- Completion of all General Education prerequisite courses listed below with a minimum 2.0 GPA in each course
General Education Prerequisites General Education Requirements - 50 Credits
The following courses meet the General Education requirements for this program, including pre-requisite General Education courses. Core Courses - 55 Credits
Courses from Prior College Coursework - 75 Credits
Credits required from prior associate’s degree or college coursework to reach 180 total credits. - Any 100-level or above courses not already taken within the BAS Applied Management - Entrepreneurship requirements
- General education pre-requisites do not count towards these credits
Course Planning
- Students can be admitted any quarter and attend full or part time.
- The first course, BUS 300, is offered every quarter.
- BUS& 101 Introduction to Business and BUS& 201 Business Law or equivalent are recommended but not required for the program.
- ACCT& 201 Principles of Accounting I or equivalent is required before starting BUS 350 or BUS 422.
- BUS 310, 330, 360, and 350 or 422 can be taken in any order and must be completed before BUS 470.
- BUS 470 and 480 are a sequence that begins in Winter quarter only.
- Transfer credits are accepted for upper and lower division courses up to the limits of LWTech policy.
- Completion requires 180 total credits, combining a student’s prior associate’s degree and the BAS AM-E program.
Recommended Course Sequence
The courses listed below are a suggested sequence; as long as prerequisites are met, courses may be taken in a different order. Diversity and Social Justice Requirement
Within the degree requirements, students must complete a 3-5 credit course that meets the college’s Diversity and Social Justice (DSJ) requirement. DSJ courses are designated in the college schedule and are designed to meet other general education or technical requirements simultaneous to meeting the DSJ requirement (e.g., ENGL& 101 with the DSJ attribute meets both the ENGL& 101 requirement and the DSJ requirement). Note: Not all sections of a course meet the DSJ requirement. Students should review the class information to ensure the class section includes “course attributes: meets diversity requirement.” Visit the DSJ requirement webpage to view the current list of general education and technical courses that meet the requirement. Students who have taken a DSJ class in a previous certificate or degree, do not have to take another DSJ class. Total Program Credits: 180
Total credits includes the 90 credits listed above and a minimum of 90 credits completed at the associate degree level. |
