ENGT 253 Machine Design Graphics4 credits Introduction to machine design graphics with emphasis on techniques necessary to graphically solve linkage, cam, belt drive, chain drive, and gearing problems. Includes fundamental kinematics.
Prerequisites: ENGT 211 , ENGT 226 , and ENGT 291
Corequisites: ENGT 251 and ENGT 255
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Interpret, and document kinematic diagrams and systems
- Apply the four common types of motion: Linear, Reciprocal, Rotary and Oscillating
- Reverse-Engineer simple and complex linkages
- Identify and specify different types of cams and followers
- Suggest and document design improvement(s) to existing product
