ACCT 110 Essential AI Skills and Practice for Non-Coders4 credits This is a hands-on, skills-based course designed for students who will enter the workforce in administrative, business, accounting, health, IT, and service-oriented roles. Students practice structured prompting, quality checking, workflow automation, and AI-supported communication while learning how to use AI responsibly and effectively on the job.
Prerequisites: ABED 40 or AHSE 56 (or placement into MATH 87 or AHSE 66 or higher) and ENGL 93 (or placement into ENGL 99 or higher)
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Create structured workplace prompts using BRAIN framework
- Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, professionalism, bias, and clarity
- Use AI tools to produce and edit workplace communications (emails, summaries, reports)
- Solve workplace problems using reasoning-based prompting techniques
- Use AI tools to support learning new job tasks and understanding procedures
- Design multi-step AI workflows to automate routine job tasks
- Apply ethical, safe, and privacy-aware AI practices in workplace settings
