DHYG 436 Advanced Dental Hygiene Clinical Practice VII

10 credits
The final in the clinical series to develop advanced application and evaluation of dental hygiene theory and techniques required for safe, legal, and effective practice of clinical dental hygiene. Advanced instrumentation techniques are incorporated into clinical care, and an increased level of independence and sophistication is demonstrated. Students will provide advanced dental hygiene clinical skills at LWTech clinic and a major clinical rotation site, CHC of Everett. Students continue providing clinical services to special populations at various extern sites using knowledge and skills developed in community dental health courses. 

Prerequisites: All Quarter 7 DHYG BAS courses

Corequisites: All Quarter 8 DHYG BAS courses

Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: 

  • Create SMART Goals, SWOT analysis, and action steps for a professional development plan
  • Perform dental hygiene services in the LWTech dental clinic and the major rotation site at CHC
  • Perform clinical dental hygiene services at assigned community extern sites
  • Participate in a Private Practice Day 
  • Participate in a Patient Simulated Mock Board for dental hygiene care
