HRM 380 Organizational Leadership, Influence, and Navigation

This course covers leadership, influence, and navigation skills crucial to business and their application for success. Students will examine various leadership theories and methods that have an impact on organizational culture and business outcomes.

Prerequisites: Admission to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Analyze leaders who create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders as part of strategic effectiveness
  • Examine significant leadership theories, personal traits, and characteristics associated with effective leaders
  • Evaluate ideas of what constitutes “effective leadership” and various aspects of today’s “leadership paradigm” while discussing and examining situational theories and models of leadership
  • Compare and contrast traditional and contemporary models of leadership
  • Analyze the changing nature of leadership and evaluate emerging trends, including ethical leadership
  • Assess changing work arrangements such as (remote, hybrid) and globalization’s role in influencing organizational leadership
