DSGN 217 Typography II5 credits This course builds upon the content covered in Typography. It emphasizes type as a communicative and aesthetic tool in both print and screen applications. Projects focus on legibility and meaning through content and context. Students explore format, typographic grid systems, organizational hierarchy of information systems, and integration of image as they further develop typographic fluency.
Prerequisites: DSGN 117
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate appropriate use of typography for various digital media formats as well as print formats
- Utilize typographic grid systems
- Demonstrate appropriate use of hierarchy and emphasis to enhance legibility and meaning
- Demonstrate how to integrate type and image
