HRM 390 Successful People Management Principles and Inspiring Creativity

5 credits
This course will focus on developing leadership techniques and behavioral traits to improve supervisors, managers, and leaders in the workplace. Students will learn how to perform conflict resolution, conduct ethical investigations, enhance performance, and techniques in coaching and supervision. In addition, students will learn how to inspire creativity for personal and business success.

Prerequisites: Admission to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Examine and apply ethical investigation techniques for workplace issues to provide informed council to all levels in an organization 
  • Identify and develop best practices for coaching and feedback for successful supervisors, managers, and leaders
  • Analyze employee accountability and evaluate approaches for performance improvement and enhancement 
  • Examine and facilitate the application of techniques for effective persuasion, problem-solving, and conflict resolution in the workplace
  • Evaluate the benefits of emotional intelligence and cultural competency in a diverse workplace
  • Apply and evaluate mechanisms that enhance positive morale and motivational effectiveness through building trust
  • Design programs to inspire creativity in the workplace through the environment and motivate creative thinking through behaviors, gamification, recognition, and measuring creativity
