NURS 245 Senior Practicum Seminar and NCLEX Prep4 credits The Senior Practicum Seminar course is designed to prepare nursing students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) and their transition from academic study to professional practice. This course integrates comprehensive review of clinical judgment and client-needs categories, test-taking strategies, and debrief of practicum experiences to ensure students are ready for both the NCLEX exam and entry into the nursing workforce.
Prerequisites: All NURS courses in previous quarter
Corequisites: All NURS courses within same quarter
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply the Client Needs categories and subcategories of the 2023 NCLEX-RN test plan to patient care
- Develop and implement effective test-taking strategies to improve NCLEX performance
- Enhance critical thinking and clinical judgment skills through application to case studies
- Engage in clinical debrief to develop identity as entry-level nurse and prepare for the transition to professional practice
- Develop a personalized study plan for continued NCLEX preparation utilizing results from previous benchmark exams to identify areas of strength and opportunities for additional learning
- Verbalize increased confidence and readiness to take the NCLEX-RN after graduation
