PUBH 445 Professional Development and Capstone Preparation5 credits This course prepares students for the capstone experience and for applying for public health jobs post-graduation. Students will work on a literature review related to their capstone project. They will also write resumes and cover letters and build confidence networking, job searching, and completing informational and job interviews. Students may begin working on their capstone project this quarter.
Prerequisites: PUBH 420
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this class students will be able to:
- Write a literature review related to their capstone project and the organization where they will be placed
- Develop a job search plan that includes personal reflection, effective networking techniques, and job interviewing success strategies
- Produce resumes and cover letters for positions in public health
- Practice conflict resolution and other problem solving strategies for the workplace
College-Wide Learning Outcomes This course teaches to the college-wide learning outcome of Information Literacy, the ability to recognize when information is needed, to choose the appropriate tools to locate the required information, and to effectively gather and evaluate the information.
