ABED 63 Machining I-BEST Support I1-3 credits This course is exclusively for students enrolled in the Machining Certificate of Completion programs including CNC Production and Inspection, Milling Setup and Operation, Multi-Axis Programming, Setup, and Operation, and Turning Setup and Operation. It addresses specific terminology and skills covered in the technical courses.
Prerequisites: ELL 50 or placement by assessment (NRS ESL 6 or ABE 4)
Corequisites: MACH 107 or MACH 117 or MACH 137
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other words and phrases used in machining and machine tool anatomy
- Discuss and identify various machining cutting tool materials and workpiece materials
- Plan, develop, document and improve machining processes
- Outline safety procedures and demonstrate ability to understand and follow oral and written directives related to safety
- Identify and interpret material safety data sheets
