DHYG 416 Oral Pathology

3 credits

This course builds on the first year Dental Science courses and continues to focus on aspects of the health/disease continuum. Advanced concepts of immunology are presented. Case studies facilitate preparation of student presentations of clinical cases. Topics covered include oral and periodontal pathologies.

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Perform preliminary diagnosis of oral lesions 
Define inflammation and repair 
Describe immunity and immunologic oral lesions 
Classify infections diseases 
Compare developmental disorders 
Define genetics  
Describe neoplasia  
Describe nonneoplastic diseases of bone 
Define oral manifestations of systemic diseases 
Classify and describe orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders
