MEDA 207 Disease & Pathology I5 credits This medically focused course is an integrated study of the structures, functions, and disease processes of the human body. This course covers anatomy, basic physiology, and pathology relating to the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic, and immune systems. There will also be a focus on wellness and prevention.
Prerequisites: MEDA 115 , MEDA 119 , and MEDA 130
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate concepts of effective verbal and non-verbal communication
- Instruct patients according to their needs to promote health maintenance and disease prevention
- Develop and maintain a current list of community resources related to patients’ healthcare needs
- Provide appropriate responses and feedback when communicating with patients
- Maintain a current list of community resources for emergency preparedness
- Recognize the effects of stress on all persons involved in emergency situations
- Demonstrate self-awareness in responding to emergency situations
