PSYC 324 Psychology of Organizations

5 credits

This course focuses on organizational and institutional behavior. Students will apply psychological theories and principles to understand how interactions among individuals, groups, and the broader social context impact organizations. By examining topics such as motivation, leadership, intergroup dynamics, work-related stress, and organizational culture, this course will prepare students to be successful members and leaders in organizations.

This course meets the Social Science general education distribution requirement.

Prerequisites: Admission to a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Examine the importance of understanding organizational behavior in the workplace
Analyze the impact of social diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace
Compare work attitudes and attitudes measurement
Analyze the impact organizational culture has on individuals and organizations
Evaluate the possible effects of work stress on individuals and organizations and apply stress management strategies
Evaluate theories of motivation and strategies to improve motivation in the workplace
Evaluate and discuss theories of leadership and management
Analyze group dynamics and appraise strategies to manage groups and teams
Develop, organize, and present a research project
