MEDA 220 MA Extern and Job Preparation2 credits Students complete requirements to enter externship, expand job-seeking skills, and develop knowledge of professional requirements to work as a certified medical assistant (MA-C) in Washington State. This course is required in the quarter prior to medical assisting externship.
Prerequisites: MEDA 125 and MEDA 139
Corequisites: MEDA 212
Course Outcomes Upon succesful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Search for entry-level medical assisting positions through job boards and employer websites
- Create a resume for entry-level medical assisting positions
- Interview for medical assisting positions
- Identify requirements to apply for the MA-C certificate in Washington State
- Identify steps to apply for national medical assisting exams
- Describe professional qualities required of a medical assistant
- Explain duties within the legal scope of a medical assistant in Washington State
- Complete documentation requirements for medical assistant externship
- Apply for graduation
