MACH 112 Machining Practice: C-Clamp and Paper Punch8 credits While making a C-Clamp and a Paper Punch, students learn tooling processes common to the machine trades, including grinding, turning, milling, and drilling.
Prerequisites: MATH 087 and ABED 046 (or equivalent placement scores for MATH 098 or higher and ENGL 093 or higher) and MACH 110 (pre or corequisite) or instructor permission Quarters Offered: Spring. Summer

Student Outcomes/Competencies: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Use dial and test indicators
- Read shop drawings and sketches
- Grind and sharpen lathe tool
- Measure and create a precise layout
- Use an engine lathe for basic turning and facing operations.
- Apply general shop safety procedures
- Select and sharpen drill bits
- Accurately locate hole centers
- Perform Milling machine basic operations
- Ream, tap, countersink, and counter bore parts
- Work with others to ensure proper procedure for operation of CNC machinery
- Strengthen workplace relationships by supporting and communicating with other team members
