11 CREDITS
Program Admission Dates: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer
The Nursing Assistant certificate prepares students for employment as Nursing Assistants in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare agencies. Additionally, this program prepares students for other Allied Health fields such as the Registered Nurse program.
The LWTech NAC program includes on-campus classroom and laboratory instruction, as well as supervised clinical practicum at a local healthcare facility.
Graduates of this one quarter program receive the training Certificate of Completion and are then eligible to apply to and take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Examination here at LWTech, an approved NACES testing center. The NNAAP application also requires the student to have a valid social security number and pay the current application fee of $110.00.
Candidates who successfully pass the NNAAP exam then complete the Nursing Assistant Certification Endorsement Application though the Washington State Department of Health (DOH). Upon approval, the applicant will be issued her/his Nursing Assistant Certification for Washington State. All applicants must answer personal data questions that are focused on fitness to practice the essential skills of the profession. The application can be accessed at: http://www.doh.wa.gov/LicensesPermitsandCertificates/ProfessionsNewReneworUpdate/NursingAssistant/ApplicationsandForms
Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an adviser or counselor. Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.
