90 CREDITS

The Project Management AAS-T prepares students to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time, on budget, and within scope across any industry. Graduates work as project coordinators, assistant project managers, project managers, agile Scrum masters, or project analysts in fields including construction, IT, healthcare, manufacturing, government, and professional services. The program emphasizes hands-on application through simulated projects, preparing students to start project management roles with practical skills employers expect on day one.

Project Management AAS-T degree graduates will:

  • manage complete project lifecycles from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout using Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) process groups and knowledge areas
  • build and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar tools, including work breakdown structures, resource assignments, critical path analysis, and baseline tracking
  • control project scope, schedule, and budget by tracking performance metrics, identifying variances early, and implementing corrective actions before problems escalate
  • lead project teams effectively by applying emotional intelligence, managing conflict, adapting communication styles to diverse stakeholders, and building psychological safety
  • apply Agile and traditional methodologies appropriately, knowing when to use Scrum sprints versus waterfall approaches based on project complexity, team structure, and organizational context
  • identify and manage project risks using qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques, then develop response strategies that protect project success
  • navigate procurement processes including vendor selection, contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and relationship management
  • ensure quality deliverables by implementing quality planning, prevention-focused processes, and continuous improvement cycles
  • make ethical decisions under pressure using Project Management Institute’s (PMI) core values of responsibility, respect, fairness, and honesty when facing resource constraints, stakeholder conflicts, or competing priorities
  • communicate project status and recommendations clearly to technical teams, executives, and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and dashboards tailored to each audience
  • demonstrate communication, critical thinking, cultural humility, information literacy, and teamwork skills
  • meet Humanities , Quantitative Reasoning , Social Science , and Written Communication  general education distribution area outcomes

Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor. Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.

General Education Requirements - 25 Credits

Course Sequence

Diversity and Social Justice Requirement

Within the degree requirements, students must complete a 3-5 credit course that meets the college’s Diversity and Social Justice (DSJ) requirement. DSJ courses are designated in the college schedule and are designed to meet other general education or technical requirements simultaneous to meeting the DSJ requirement (e.g., ENGL& 101 with the DSJ attribute meets both the ENGL& 101 requirement and the DSJ requirement).

Note: Not all sections of a course meet the DSJ requirement. Students should review the class information to ensure the class section includes “course attributes: meets diversity requirement.”

Visit the DSJ requirement webpage to view the current list of general education and technical courses that meet the requirement.

Students who have taken a DSJ class in a previous certificate or degree, do not have to take another DSJ class.
