The LWTech Parenting Education program supports caregivers of young children (birth to 5 years) by offering opportunities to strengthen parenting skills in a collaborative preschool lab setting and through dedicated parenting education classes. Participants engage in parenting skills development through toddler groups and cooperative preschool settings, where caregivers attend alongside their children.
This program emphasizes parenting theory and best practices, hands-on learning through developmentally appropriate, play based activities, with a focus on the caregiver’s vital role in their child’s growth and development.
Empowered Parenting: Preschooler Development and Support certificate of completion graduates will:
- implement healthy and safe practices that foster a supportive and engaging learning environment for young children
- identify and understand resources to support families and strengthen community connections
- use strategies for engaging with children and caregivers using a culturally responsive, anti-bias approach to foster social-emotional competence
- explain developmental milestones in relation to cognitive, social-emotional, and fine and gross motor skills, and their impact on school readiness
