The Laser Systems Repair Technician Certificate of Completion prepares students to apply knowledge of laser systems technologies and skills in maintenance.
Laser Systems Repair Technician Certificate graduates will:
- Be prepared to obtain an entry-level position in their field
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the operation principles of industrial biomedical and manufacturing laser systems
- Utilize flow charts, step-by-step procedures, and methodologies for troubleshooting laser systems and apply philosophies of repair
- Characterize laser performance and compare to specifications in the laser maintenance manual
- Perform routine and periodic inspections and troubleshooting procedures
- Perform periodic maintenance of laser systems’ optical and electrical/electronic parts
- Interpret electronic circuit schematics to determine the analogue or digital circuit operation faults
- Detect and address issues associated with the electrical/electronic systems of lasers
- Program and validate software of laser controllers
- Replace and solder electronic components
- Replace and align high grade optical or fiber optic laser system parts
- Maintain continuous wave, pulsed gas, solid-state, diode, and fiber laser systems
Lake Washington Institute of Technology does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor. Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.
