LWTech is committed to providing an excellent educational experience for international students. We value the diversity of perspectives and experiences that international students bring to the college, and are dedicated to making the international student experience rewarding and memorable. International Programs provides international student orientation, workshops and seminars, highly personalized individual attention, and immigration and visa support. No TOEFL score is required.
International students are welcome to enter the more than 100 degree and certificate programs at LWTech. Selective admission programs may require an additional application after acceptance to LWTech.
LWTech provides many opportunities for international students to become involved on campus. Students can join LWTech’s Associated Student Government, become a member of one of the many clubs offered on campus, or even work on campus. There are many ways for students to connect with each other and with the campus community.
Students seeking admission as F-1 or J-1 students should contact the International Programs Office for an application and admission assistance. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, up until one month prior to orientation for any quarter, to allow time to obtain the proper visa. International transfer students within the United States may apply until the day of orientation. Mandatory orientation tailored for new international students occurs one week prior to the start of each quarter.

- Proof of financial support. Financial aid in the form of scholarships, loans, and grants is generally not available to international students, especially during the first quarter of attendance. The amount required for this document is subject to changes in tuition and fees.
- Official transcripts from all previous colleges attended.
- (Optional) Results of the TOEFL exam taken during the past year with a score of 523 (Paper Based Test), 193 (Computer Based Test), or 70 (Internet Based Test with a subscore of 18 in the writing section). Lower test scores or students without TOEFL or IELTS scores will be considered for acceptance to the Intensive English Program. The International Programs Office reserves the right to make the final decision regarding a student’s placement. Students may be required to enroll in Intensive English Program classes prior to admission into academic classes.
- Other information as required.
Maintaining Immigration Status
The International Programs office will issue a Form I-20 form to the student, following acceptance to the college. Additionally, international students must:
- Meet all general admission requirements.
- Agree to comply with all college regulations.
- Agree to attend all quarters on a full-time basis as prescribed by LWTech and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Credit loads may vary depending on program requirements.
- Maintain grade point average and credit completion requirements necessary for graduation and to remain in status.
- Agree to file a yearly tax return with the United States Internal Revenue Service if required.
Program Admission Requirements
Certain professional-technical programs have specific admissions requirements, such as minimum test scores, satisfactory performance in prerequisite courses, and other screening criteria. Enrollment Services and the instructional divisions have current program admissions requirements.
Tuition Costs For International Students
The following visa holders are eligible to apply for resident tuition: A, E, G, I, K, E3, H1, and those who hold a lawful non-immigrant status such as a spouse or child of a person with an E3, H1 or L visa.
Non-resident tuition is charged to the following visa holders: B, C, F, H, J, and M. Documentation of resident status is established by Enrollment Services. Refer to the current tuition schedule for costs. The college may enter into contract training with other organizations and establish a different rate of tuition or fees in some cases.

Housing
Our International Programs office can recommend local organizations that assist international students with housing.
International students are required to inform the International Programs Office of any change of address within 10 days of the change. The International Programs Office can assist with any questions students may have.
Student Health Insurance Information
LWTech, in partnership with LewerMark, offers health insurance for international students at a low cost. International students are required to enroll in LWTech’s health insurance program while studying at LWTech, including periods of vacation and Optional Practical Training (OPT). Health insurance does not include dental or vision coerage, but additional dental insurance plans can be purchased through Smart Smile.
LewerMark insurance is $268.38 per quarter this academic year for international students.
Insurance payment is alwasy due the first day of the quarter. Insurance coverage for each quarter begins on the first day of the quarter and ends on the day before the next quarter’s start date. Students are always covered without any gaps.

International High School Completion Program
Complete high school and college requirements at the same time. To be eligible for the International High School Completion program, students must be:

- a 3rd or 4th year student in high school, but have not graduated
To earn the Washington State High School Diploma students will be required to complete the state graduation requirements. College classes will count towards high school graduation requirements, and most will count towards both an associate degree AND the high school requirements.
Students with a TOEFL score of 523 (Paper Based Test), 193 (Computer Based Test), or 70 (Interest Based Test, with a sub score of 18 on the writing section) and/or an IELTS score of 6, may be eligible for direct admission into academic level classes. The international Programs Office reserves the right to make the final decision regarding a student’s placement. Students without TOEFL or EILTS scores will be required to take a free English assessment test at LWTech. Students may be required to enroll in intensive English Program classes prior to admission into academic classes.
Students in the International High School Completion Program will:
- submit official transcripts of high school classes (in English) with the application
- take all required classes and tests for the state high school requirements
- live with a relative or host family until the age of 18
- take a minimum of 15 credits each quarter
Non-resident tuition rates will apply. Other fees, including health insurance and books are not included.
