CIVL 103 Construction Materials4 credits This course is an introduction to the typical materials used in a civil engineering and construction projects. The materials studied include concrete, asphalt, rock, PVC, steel, and soil. It is an introduction to the practices and procedures for the testing and placement of construction materials. This course covers basic steel stress, strain, and thermal expansion, as well as in depth testing and placing of soil, aggregate, asphalt and concrete. Also discussed are standard inspection practices and construction documentation during and after the construction of sewer, water, storm, and roadway civil improvements.
Prerequisites: CADE 131 , CADE 132 , CIVL 101 , and CIVL 102
Corequisites: CIVL 231
