MEDA 254 Advanced Medical Coding5 credits Students will develop advanced skills in the use of the Physician’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and HCPCS coding system in ambulatory and inpatient healthcare settings.
Prerequisites: MEDA 140 , MEDA 154 , or instructor permission.
Quarters Offered: Winter, Summer
Student Outcomes/Competencies: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of advanced insurance terminology, phrases, and abbreviations
- Correctly fill out HCFA billing forms
- Work effectively as a team member in the medical office setting
