EASL 025 Workplace Communications II1-8 credits This course is designed to improve workplace communication for intermediate ESL and ABE students. Topics will include the interpretation of work-related vocabulary, safety procedures, handbooks, charts, performance reviews and benefits.
Prerequisites: Appropriate placement test score.
Student Outcomes/Competencies: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Ask for, give, follow and clarify directions
- Interpret general work-related vocabulary
- Recognize and use occupational signs, charts, forms, and written directions
- Interpret job responsibilities and performance reviews
- Interpret employee handbooks, work safety manuals, and related publications
- Identify safe work procedures
- Interpret wages, deductions, and benefits
- Participate in meetings
