ABED 068 Communication Skills Medical Assisting Applications II3 credits This course is exclusively for students who are enrolled in the second term of the I-BEST Medical Assisting, Office Administration certificate program. It addresses specific vocabulary and language skills covered in the second term technical courses (BTE 105 and 112 and MEDA 121).
Prerequisites: ABED 067
Corequisites: BTE 112 and MEDA 121
Quarters Offered: Winter
Student Outcomes/Competencies: Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
- Pronounce, spell, and use correctly specialized vocabulary relating to worksheets, accounts receivable/payable statements, billing procedures and record collections
- Role-play telephone techniques necessary to function in a medical office
- Produce common medical office written reports using a variety of sentence structures.
- Read and interpret data from pie, column, bar, and 3-D charts
- Transfer information from graphs and charts to written summaries
