AUTO 250 Electric Vehicle Technology I15 credits This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of operation, diagnosis and repairing of hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and battery electric vehicles. Topics to be covered will include batteries, fuel cells, electric motors, controllers, inverters, and auxiliary accessories utilized in the HEV, PHEV, and BEV platforms.
Prerequisites: AUTO 110 , AUTO 115 , AUTO 150 , AUTO 201 , AUTO 230 , AUTO 241 or an equivalent completion of automotive technology AAS program from an accredited college
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Use tools in automotive and electronic learning environments.
- Test and evaluate the condition of high voltage gloves.
- Diagnose, repair, and test HEV, PHEV, BEV vehicles and subsystems.
- Diagnose, repair, and test electronic systems.
- Demonstrate service disconnect and battery disconnect in an EV vehicle safely
- Diagnose, repair, and test power electronic circuitry for electric drive systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and test motor control electronic hardware.
- Diagnose, repair, and test high voltage battery systems.
- Store, handle, and dispose of high voltage battery systems safely
