HRM 490 Capstone: HR as a Strategic Partner and HR Career Planning5 credits This is a capstone course for the HRM BAS degree where students will apply their business and human resource knowledge to perform best practices for an organization. Students will execute career strategies to transition into a professional environment or to obtain career advancement.
Prerequisites: Admission to the BAS in Human Resource Management program and at least 90 credits completed of 100/200 level courses
Corequisites: HRM 210 , HRM 215 , HRM 220 , HRM 230 , HRM 250 , HRM 255 , HRM 260 , HRM 290 , HRM 340 , HRM 345 , HRM 370 , HRM 380 , HRM 390 , HRM 425 , HRM 435 , HRM 465 , HRM 485 , and HRM 495 (prerequisites or corequisites)
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply concepts to demonstrate Human Resource (HR) value by aligning the vision, mission, and goals of the organization with the delivery of HR function
- Solve complex business and HR problems and issues involving the integration of one or more HR functional areas
- Conduct career opportunities activities including networking, informational interviews, and resume reviews
College-Wide Learning Outcomes This course teaches to the college-wide learning outcome of Problem Solving, the ability to analyze situations, explore possible responses, apply informed solutions, and evaluate results in relation to real‑world contexts.
