HRM 230 Talent Acquisition: Strategy, Sourcing, and Recruiting5 credits This course covers how an organization’s strategy affects talent acquisition with an emphasis on sourcing and recruiting needs. Students will learn how to assist organizations in correctly identifying talent needs.
Prerequisites: ABED 40 or AHSE 56 (or placement into MATH 87 or AHSE 66 or higher) and ENGL 99 (or placement into ENGL& 101 )
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Describe how an organization’s strategy affects recruiting strategy and activities
- Describe factors to consider when designing a job, including job analysis and job descriptions
- Adjust to the markets to compete for talent through hiring and developing employees to execute business strategies
- Identify the various methods for sourcing, staffing, and recruiting internally and externally
- Explain the importance of diversifying talent pools
- Describe the various methods for developing a diverse pool of qualified candidates; including sourcing, social media, employment branding, and candidate engagement
- Explain the legal aspects of job descriptions and recruiting activities
- Identify key recruiting metrics and discuss how to use data and information to improve recruiting and talent acquisition
