BH 492 Practicum II

5 credits
Practicum II continues to expose students to new clients, professionals, and services, building upon Practicum I by providing opportunities to participate in behavioral health/human services. In collaboration with practicum supervisors and agency staff, students will work on new skills. Ninety hours of recorded clinical experience are required.

Prerequisites: BH& 491  

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Integrate theoretical classroom learning with experiential learning to implement professionalism and best practices related to behavioral health in a community agency setting
  • Integrate professional identity and scope of practice within a healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate enhanced clinical skills
  • Contribute to the development of a care plan with the patient, the patient’s support network, and team members
  • Prepare for supervisory meetings 
  • Identify the organization’s scope of practice, strengths, weaknesses, staff positions, funding, and clientele

Program Outcomes
This course teaches to the following program outcomes:

  • demonstrate knowledge of the structures, functions, and organizations which comprise the local healthcare system, with a particular focus on behavioral healthcare organizations
