APDZ 311 Design Theory - Meaning Making5 credits
This course provides a survey of the field of design communications from historical, cultural, and multi-disciplinary perspectives. The shifting definition of design and its influence on and by society provides a unifying theme.
Prerequisites: APDZ 310
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate examples of language theory models including semiotics and semiology
- Create a visual narrative and examples of language patterns
- Contribute design solutions toward diverse cultural problems
- Evaluate methods of seeing/interacting and the quality of the viewer/participant experience
- Correlate contemporary design trends with cultural diversity
