ABED 61 Welding I-BEST Support I1-3 credits This course is exclusively for students enrolled in the first term of the Welding Introduction Certificate of Completion program. It addresses specific terminology and skills covered in the first-term technical courses.
Prerequisites: ELL 50 or placement by assessment (NRS ESL 6 or ABE 4)
Corequisites: WELD 118 and WELD 119
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other words and phrases used in welding and manufacturing and use them
- Read and follow blueprints
- Outline safety procedures and demonstrate ability to understand and follow oral and written directives related to safety
- Apply mathematical skills to make equipment adjustments/calibrations and to complete fabrication projects
- Prepare a cover letter and resume
