NURS 245 Senior Practicum Seminar

This is a seminar class that integrates Leadership and senior practicum. It covers the transition to practice, preparation for clinical, and information pertinent to your career. There are guest speakers and discussions, and time for questions about your clinical work. 

Prerequisites: NURS 240 NURS 241 , and NURS 242  

Corequisites: NURS 243  and NURS 244  

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Process information regarding transition to practice in a useful and replicable format. 
  • Use EBP to create an understanding of clinical challenges 
  • Role model professional interpersonal skills which facilitate and advance teamwork 
  • Identify the relationship between nursing process, problem solving & decision making 
  • Identify strategies for effective communication and dealing with intra and interpersonal conflict  
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with patient, family, interdisciplinary, systems administration and the wider community 
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and accountability consistent with ethical, legal and facility responsibilities of nursing 
  • Successfully manage the transition from school to employment as an RN 
  • Identify current trends in nursing and healthcare 
  • Identify and resolve ethical issues in the workplace
