FSE 435 Funeral Service Leadership5 credits This class explores various leadership styles pertinent to the role of the funeral service manager. Topics include, but may not be limited to, customer service leadership, coaching employees for leadership, leadership skills and qualities, and association leadership.
Prerequisites: BUSA 180 (or equivalent) and PSYC 324
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course student will be able to:
- Manage employees in an effective manner
- Apply core leadership facilitation skills developed through practice and feedback
- Evaluate customer service leadership and determine why it is important in funeral service
- Refine leadership skills and qualities important in funeral service
- Create dynamic group activities for employees to ensure effective group interaction and results
- Apply leadership skills to funeral service scenarios
- Integrate general leadership and management practices to improve the profession
