CSNT 177 Security+ Certification Preparation2 credits This course prepares students for taking the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. This course will help students with the knowledge and skills required to assess the security posture of an enterprise environment and recommend and implement appropriate security solutions; monitor and secure hybrid environments, including cloud, mobile, and IoT; operate with an awareness of applicable laws and policies, including principles of governance, risk, and compliance; and identify, analyze, and respond to security events and incidents.
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Identify strategies developed by cyber adversaries to attack networks and hosts and the countermeasures deployed to defend them
- Explain the principles of organizational security and the elements of effective security policies
- Explain the technologies and uses of cryptographic standards and products
- Install and configure network- and host-based security technologies
- Describe how wireless and remote access security is enforced
- Describe the standards and products used to enforce security on web and communications technologies
- Identify strategies for ensuring business continuity, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery
- Summarize application and coding vulnerabilities and identify development and deployment methods designed to mitigate them
