FTNS 191 Fitness Internship I3 credits This course prepares the student to be an employee in a health, fitness, or recreational facility. Students observe certified industry professionals at health, fitness, recreational, or therapeutic facilities and learn the daily operational duties associated with a fitness center.
Prerequisites: FTNS 112 , FTNS 121 , BIOL& 160 , and instructor permission
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Describe the daily operational aspects of a fitness facility
- Collaborate with fitness professionals and fellow employees to perform daily tasks in a fitness center
- Explain and implement emergency procedures at a fitness center
- List a variety of exercises used in designing exercise programs
Program Outcomes This course teaches to the following program outcomes:
- Be prepared to obtain an entry-level to mid-management position in their field
- Demonstrate ability to instruct a variety of clientele on proper exercise form and technique
Global Outcomes This course teaches to the global outcome of teamwork.
