BTE 100 Preparing for Successful Online Learning

2 credits
This class is designed to prepare students to be successful as learners in an online environment. Students will utilize computers, software, a learning managements system, and other technology that they will be likely to encounter as online students. Students will also be instructed in general organizational skills that are needed by all students.

Student Outcomes/Competencies:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Navigate an online learning management system
  • Collect and print documentation for online classes, e.g. syllabi, outlines, schedules
  • Send and receive email within and outside of a learning management system
  • Organize and utilize a scheduling system to note tasks and due dates
  • View and use various file types
  • Describe tree structured file management
  • Participate in an online virtual meeting and/or class
  • Work as part of a virtual team to accomplish a task
  • Investigate and describe technological specifications of a computer system
  • Investigate and describe software specifications installed on a computer system
