CEGT 241 Civil Engineering Materials4 credits
Students will examine and calculate the properties of common civil engineering materials including gravel, asphalt, concrete and steel to properly select materials for civil engineering projects.
Prerequisites: CEGT 211 or instructor permission.
Student Outcomes/Competencies:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Define civil engineering terminology as used in civil engineering
- Describe properties of civil engineering materials and their applications in civil projects
- Calculate density and specific gravity of civil engineering materials used in civil projects
- Use research tools to collect long term temperature data for properly selecting material
- Select appropriate materials for common civil engineering projects
