CEGT 221 Surveying4 credits This is a fundamental course of the use of surveying equipment, instruments, and tools. Students will learn standards for field note recording, and computations for leveling and transversing. Emphasis is placed on basic surveying techniques in the field.
Prerequisites: CEGT 211 or instructor permission. Student Outcomes/Competencies: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Define common surveying terminology
- Use basic surveying instruments including a transit and level
- Record field notes and perform computations of differential leveling elevations
- Perform calculations of angles, directions, and elevations using transit and level for roadways and plats
- Draw profiles of roadways using survey data
