CEGT 100 Introduction to Civil Engineering Technology

4 credits
This course is an overview of civil engineering disciplines: Transportation engineering, environmental engineering, and the infrastructure common in civil engineering projects. Students will begin to conceptualize and plan civil engineering projects such as airports, bridges, highways, etc.

Prerequisites: ENGR 113 or instructor permission.
Student Outcomes/Competencies:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Apply fundamental civil engineering concepts to complete simple civil graphics
  • Describe basic principles of civil engineering disciplines
  • Calculate stress and strain of material elements
  • Use tools to research common civil engineering problems
  • Create graphics to describe common civil engineering problems
  • Analyze data and recommend strategies for improvement in civil engineering projects
