DHYG 416 Oral Pathology I2 credits This course builds on the first year Dental Science courses and continues to focus on aspects of the health/disease continuum. Topics covered include oral and periodontal pathologies.
Prerequisites: DHYG 341 , DHYG 342 , DHYG 343 , DHYG 345 , DHYG 346 , and DHYG 349
Corequisites: DHYG 411 , DHYG 412 , DHYG 413 , and DHYG 415
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Explain specific soft and hard tissue pathologies of the orofacial region
- Perform extra oral and intra oral exams to detect hard and soft tissue pathologies
- Recognize pathologies of the teeth
- Classify specific periodontal pathologies
Program Outcomes This course teaches to the following program outcome:
- be prepared to successfully complete all licensing exams required to practice in Washington State and obtain an entry-level position as a dental hygienist
